1Password is a wonderful application and service that allows you to create, store and use strong, single-use passwords. While the process is fairly self-explanatory and can likely be completed without guidance, here's a step-by-step tutorial on getting started with 1Password.

If you're the DIY type, please just keep these tips in mind:

1: Disable your web browser's built-in password manager. We don't want it conflicting with 1Password. Here's how to disable based on your browser: https://support.1password.com/disable-browser-password-manager/

2: Make sure you download and install the 1Password application and various browser plugins for you browser: https://1password.com/downloads/mac/. Note this link is for Mac, but if you look at the top of your page, you can select whatever OS you're using.

3: During the setup, make sure you save your 1 Password Emergency Password Kit. (You'll be prompted to do this during setup.) Store is somewhere safe where only you can access it. While there's a place to input your master password, we suggest you not store that in the same place as your recovery kit.

Now for those who like the step-by-step, read on!

First, disable your web browser(s) built-in password manager. We don't want it conflicting with 1Password. Here's how to disable based on your browser: https://support.1password.com/disable-browser-password-manager/

Look for the 1Password invite in your inbox and click "Join your team."

Fill in your full name and click continue.

Create a strong Master Password. This will be the password you use to unlock access to all your passwords, so make it a good one that you can remember. Click continue.

Now login for the first time!

Now download your 1Password Emergency Password Kit. Keep this in a safe place that only you can access. We recommend not writing down your Master Password on this sheet. Rather, store that separately.

Now download and install Apps for your computer.

Choose the appropriate download based on your particularly operating system.

Once installed, launch 1Password if it doesn't automatically. If your 1Password Emergency Password Kit is still in your downloads folder, you'll have most information filled out. Just put in your Master Password and sign in. If this was the case for you, skip the next three screenshots.

Should you have to setup 1Password manually, choose "1Password.com"

Now select "scan your setup code."

Open your 1Password Recovery Password Kit and frame the barcode in the crosshairs. It will then fill out all your info. All you'll need to do is enter your master password.

Make sure you download and install the 1Password browser plugins for you browser: https://1password.com/downloads/mac/. Note this link is for Mac, but if you look at the top of your page, you can select whatever OS you're using.

You can add 1Password to your phone as well so you can have easy access to passwords on the go.
