The first time you login, you'll be prompted to set up 2FA. Since we already use Microsoft Authenticator for our Office 365 2FA, we'll use that again as our authenticator app, though any authenticator app (LastPass, Google Authenticator, 1Password, etc.) would work.
- Get your phone handy and fire up Microsoft Authenticator
- Head to your Synology's URL (asking Bionic Cat if you don't know what that is).
- The process to setup 2FA is fairly self-explanatory, but the video below will demonstrate step by step.
Note that unlike the Finder or Windows File Explorer, you cannot work directly from the web interface. Rather, you'll need to download a file locally to your device and the re-upload it to the server once finished. For larger files and folders, there are methods to sync entire folders to your local hard drive and automatically keep them in sync with the server. That requires extra setup on the computer, so please inquire at supprt@bionic-cat.com if you're interested.
