You may come across a bogus site and accidentally allow it to send messages to your browser, which can result in getting annoying (and fake) pop up messages. To disable a site from sending these messages, do one of the following depending on your browser:



Safari:

  1. Select the Safari menu
  2. Choose Settings (or hit command and ,)
  3. Choose "websites" from navigation bar at the top
  4. Choose Notification from the left navigation bar
  5. Select the bogus website
  6. Either deny and/or remove it




Chrome:

  1. Navigate to chrome://settings/content/notifications in the address bar
  2. Under the "allowed to send notifications" section, find the offending site and select the three dots by it
  3. Remove or block the site
