In this crazy modern world of ours, you likely have multiple email accounts for various purposes. This can become problematic when you accidentally accept an invite or attempt to open a shared file link in one account that only has access through another.

The workaround? Separate your accounts with browser profiles!

In general, I recommend using Microsoft Edge if your account is a Microsoft 365 account or Chrome if it's a Google Workspace account. Don't know what kind of account you have? Ask us.

Every web browser has an option to create separate profiles, but they're all slightly different. Below are some screenshots from the big three.

Chrome

  1. Click your profile icon or initial at the top right of the screen
  2. Click "add" at the bottom and follow the steps to log into your additional account
  3. Log into your extra Google Workspace/Gmail account

Edge:

  1. Choose your profile icon from the top left of the screen
  2. At the bottom, choose Other Profiles >> Setup new Work Profile. Note: if you have a personal Microsoft account you're trying to separate, choose "Set up new personal profile."
  3. Log into your additional Microsoft 365 Account.

Safari:

  1. From the Safari menu, choose "Settings"
  2. Select "Profiles" from the navigation icons on the top row
  3. Click the + icon to add a new profile
